I went to Melaka last week to do some shopping and decided to book a 2 nights stay at Hatten Hotel which is located at Jalan Merdeka. The location of this new hotel is excellent as it is just a walking distance away from the DataranPahlawan Shopping Mall and the Mahkota Parade Mall. The Hatten Square Mall is an extension of the new Hatten Hotel and there are many IT vendor stores selling computers, laptop, hand phones and IT accessories. Walking to Jonker Street from the hotel would take about 2o minutes.
Checking in at the counter was fast and easy and thereafter I had to walk through a long passageway in order to reach to the lifts. I had booked a Deluxe room with a nice sea view and facing directly to Mahkota Medical Center. My first impression of the deluxe room was that it was very clean and spacious. The room could easily accommodate a family of 4 persons. There were 2 LCD TV – the first TV was located at a small living area with a sofa and the other TV in the main bedroom. There is a small Pantry in the living area – coffee/tea bags, 2 complimentary bottle of water, kettle and a small fridge.
The bedroom was spacious and the king size bed was firm and comfortable with 4 pillows. There was a good selection of TV programs to watch – from both local and international channels. However there was only one TV remote control in the room. There was a wardrobe with sufficient space to hang my clothes and also a mini safe, a small iron and ironing board. The bathroom was big and there was sufficient toiletries provided. The shower cubicle was spacious and there was a strong pressure of water from the rain shower. The only issue about the bedroom was that the walls may be thin; as I could hear conversation from people along the corridor outside my room. The air condition in the room was very quiet and the air was fresh; but it took quite a long time for the room to be cool at the desired temperature that I had set.
The morning breakfast was served in the Chatterz Restaurant located at the 11th floor of the hotel. The Chatterz restaurant was very spacious with sufficient tables and chairs to accommodate hotel guests that were streaming in constantly in the morning. The breakfast was good as there was sufficient spread of food to suit everyone. Food were constantly being replenished before it runs out. The staff at the restaurant were attentive and helpful. I was delighted to have my 2 breakfast here at the Chatterz restaurant.
For transportation, I hardly saw any taxi waiting outside the lobby of the hotel. To take a cab, just walked to the Mahkota Parade shopping mall and you can get a cab at the taxi stand outside the main car park. Overall I did enjoyed my 2 nights stay at the Hatten Hotel in Melaka. I will definitely come back to this hotel when I am back in Melaka in a few months time.
