Recently followed my friend to a Chinese Temple in Singapore to pray Tai Sui. The temple that we went is called Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple; and is located at 15 Arumugam Road – just a few steps away from the Macpherson MRT station. This is the first time I visited this temple and it was very crowded with devotees coming to pray Tai Sui.
Many devotees pray to Tai Sui during the Chinese New Year to seek protection, good health and success for each particular year. And every year, there is a different Tai Sui or Commander taking charge of world’s affairs. So for this year of the horse, the Tai Sui is Great General Zhang Ci. There is a total of 60 different Tai Sui who will rotate to take charge of each year.

My first impression of Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple is that it is a beautiful Taoist temple. There are many of Deities and it is a good place to learn about Taoism faith and culture. Not to worry if you don’t know the procedures on praying to Tai Sui; there were many friendly staff and volunteers guiding devotees what to do. It took about 2 hours to complete the whole process of praying to Tai Sui – as it was very crowded with devotees.

I have put up a video and photos of this temple. This beautiful Taoist temple is definitely worth a visit when you are in Singapore. By the way, there are also 2 Chinese temples located opposite this Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple.
