Stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton hotel in Johor Bahru – for a short break. The location of the hotel was slightly remote – away from the main street of Jalan Wong Ah Fook. Yet the hotel was still within walking distance of Komtar JBCC Mall and City Square Mall. I took about 10 minutes to walk from Komtar JBCC to arrive at Doubletree by Hilton hotel.
Check in was quick and there was a request for a deposit of RM150 for incidental charges, if any. I booked the double double room and was glad to be given a high floor. The room itself was spacious, clean and welcoming. I liked the design of the carpet – nice. And yes, I was given the Hilton famous warm cookie which was tasty.
The beds were firm; and there were sufficient pillows given. The LCD TV was a 40″ if I guessed it correctly. There was small radio clock – for those who needed an alarm wake up call. The small fridge or mini bar was empty and I liked it this way. I liked to buy and stocked up on my favorite drinks and yogurt.
The bathroom design is unique. There is a clear glass panel in the shower area that separates the bathroom from the bedroom. So if I am taking a shower, I can have a clear view of the bedroom and vice versa. Great for couples and lovers. However, for room mates and friends, you can simply press the button and the blinds would be lowered. Bathroom amenities were sufficient and of good quality.
The breakfast starts from 6.30 am and ends at 10.30 am. Overall, the breakfast spread were sufficient. I liked the fresh fruit juices counter and the noodles with herbal soup. And the otak otak ( grilled fish cake) and roti prata was good. Just off the topic – do try the roti prata at the Amma Unavagam restaurant located opposite this hotel. They served the best Roti prata with delicious Indian curry.
Overall, I have a relaxing and enjoyable stay at Doubletree by Hilton at Johor Bahru. I will be coming back soon to try out their King Size bedroom and their Gym / swimming pool.
