One of the interesting place to visit while at Garden by the Bay is at the Sun Pavilion. This is where you get to see a large collection of interesting cacti. Surprise to see that cactus plants come in so many different shapes and sizes.

The Sun Pavilion can be quite hot in the afternoon – suitable for these cacti. The Mexican Columnar Cacti looks impressive – with thick stem and can grow rather tall; almost like a tree.

The Desert Rose is a beautiful cactus plant with thick stem and brightly red color flowers. According to the information board ( see photo ), many of these species have poisonous sap; used by natives for hunting.

There is a particular cactus that attracts visitors’ attention – see photo below. Many visitors ( especially ladies ) would laughed or giggled while viewing it. This cactus is name Old Man of the Mountain or Oreocereus trollii. It does resembles a male penis; which may be the reason why it attracts visitors to it. Anyway, this cactus doesn’t look old to me; rather it is a strong and handsome cactus.

My friends and I were impressed with the Sun Pavillion – it is definitely a worthwhile visit. We will come back.
