The Sun Pavilion can be quite hot in the afternoon – suitable for these cacti. The Mexican Columnar Cacti looks impressive – with thick stem and can grow rather tall; almost like a tree.

The Desert Rose is a beautiful cactus plant with thick stem and brightly red color flowers. According to the information board ( see photo ), many of these species have poisonous sap; used by natives for hunting.

There is a particular cactus that attracts visitors’ attention – see photo below. Many visitors ( especially ladies ) would laughed or giggled while viewing it.  This cactus is name Old Man of the Mountain or Oreocereus trollii.  It does resembles a male penis;  which may be the reason why it attracts visitors to it. Anyway, this cactus doesn’t look old to me; rather it is  a strong and handsome cactus.

Chrysanthemums – Gardens By the Bay

Last week, I went to Gardens By the Bay to view the floral the display of  Chrysanthemums  flowers. I was amazed by the different types and the colorful spread of  Chrysanthemum  flowers spread throughout the garden. There were literally thousands of colorful Chrysanthemum flowers for my eyes to feast on. Truly a worthwhile trip.

Most of us know that Chrysanthemum flowers are used to make delicious Chrysanthemum tea; which I drink regularly to cool down in this hot weather. I also drink  Chrysanthemum tea with honey when I am having a flu – very effective cure for flu and sore throat. Now I also know ( learn) that Chrysanthemum plants are effective in reducing air pollution and improve air quality.
