Prawn Noodles | Salmon Noodles & Dumplings in Permas Jaya Johor

Went to this simple food outlet called Chef Ong in Permas Jaya.  Again it is one of the simple and spacious coffee shop that you see often see in Permas Jaya area. I was there at about 6pm and there are plenty of empty tables & seats.

I ordered the Prawn Mee ( noodles ), Salmon noodles and Salmon dumplings; also the Tofu. The food came quickly and it looked good. The prawn noodles was deliciously good. The 2 prawns were very fresh and the broth was excellent; and there were pieces of pork too.

The Salmon fish soup noodles was tasty as well. But I prefer the salmon to be boiled in the soup rather than the fried one. The Salmon was definitely fresh. The broth was tasty and not salty at all.

The Salmon fish dumplings was something refreshing to me; as I had never eaten such dumplings before. There were generous salmon inside the dumplings. If you are ordering the Salmon noodles, there is no need to order the fish dumplings. It is almost eating the same thing.

The tofu was excellent as well. The tofu simply melt inside your mouth.  It was a good and hearty dinner for me. I had also ordered their Soursop  juice. The Soursop juice was refreshing with some of its fruit inside the glass.

My favorite food in Chef Ong is the Prawn Mee ( noodles).

Mee Hoon Kueh / Ban Mian in Permas Jaya

I arrived at Permas Jaya, Johor Bahru at 1.30 pm and was walking along the streets looking for a place to rest and have a light meal. There are numerous coffesshops and restaurants here – the choices of food here are endless.

Mee Hoon Kueh
Sin Soon Li is located opposite this shop house that being used as a Church.

Finally settled down in a spartan coffeeshop called Sin Soon Li Restaurant. This place was quiet and clean; with only a handful customers having their meals. The menu is hung up on the plain wall. I ordered the Mee Hoon Kueh and a hot Teh O.

The Mee Hoon Kueh looked plain and ordinary. However it taste great – just liked a good home cooked meal.  The ingredients added were just sweet leaf vegetable, minced pork, anchovies and a raw egg. The broth is good ( not salty at all).  I also added some chilli with soya sauce for the extra flavor. The only disappointment is the hot Teh O. I think they should use better quality tea leaves.
